Merit Badge Challenges represent hands-on learning — the kind that transforms curious observers into confident builders. From setting up your first Nexus account to deploying smart contracts and contributing compute power, these weekly challenges give you direct experience with the tools that will power the Layer 1 for the AI Era.
Trail Guide Education embodies our commitment to transparency and accessibility. Whether you're a seasoned developer or someone taking their first steps into verifiable computing, our educational content breaks down complex concepts into digestible, actionable knowledge.
Community Campfire captures the collaborative spirit that drives innovation. Through AMAs with our engineering team, community-led discussions, and creative challenges, we're building the social infrastructure that makes the technical infrastructure meaningful.
Proof of Camp Nexus: The badge system
Each week, we'll tweet out a Primary Badge Challenge – a focused task that any community member is eligible to complete. To earn your badge and NEX Testnet points, simply respond to our X post with your Proof of Badge and your wallet ID.
These badges are time-bounded; you'll typically have five days to complete the mission from its announcement. Complete the challenge within this active period, and you earn that badge's Testnet III points reward. Miss the window, and that specific badge reward will no longer be available.
On Fridays, we will post a picture of the weekly badge and if you earned the badge, re-tweet the badge you earned on X to celebrate your achievement! NEX Testnet Points will be distributed at the end of each badge period.
Beyond the weekly primaries, we've embedded Hidden Badge Challenges throughout each week. These reward the curious, the creative, and the community-minded campers who go beyond the basic requirements to explore, experiment, and help others.
The economics of contribution
Every badge you earn converts to points in our camp economy — a transparent system where 1,000 NEX Testnet points equals 1 NEX Testnet token*. Primary badges award up to 5,000 points, while hidden badges can net you up to 10,000 points.
But the real rewards go beyond NEX Testnet tokens: Badge collectors can earn special recognition, Discord roles, and opportunities for direct engagement with the Nexus team.

The weekly rhythm of progress
Monday - Merit Badge Monday: Each week kicks off with a new primary challenge, complete with tutorials, templates, and clear success criteria. You can earn points starting as soon as the Tweet is posted announcing the Merit Badge challenge.
Wednesday - Wayfinding Wednesday: Mid-week education that deepens your understanding of the concepts behind the challenges.
Friday - Campfire Friday: Community time, the kind of spontaneous innovation that happens when builders gather around a digital campfire. Expect AMAs with our team, community highlights, Ambassador interviews, and maybe even s'mores! Ok, we can't actually give you s'mores.
Award timing: Every week at Camp Nexus starts at 12pm PT on Monday, and ends at 3pm PT on Fridays.

Week 2 (7/28 - 8/1): Growing the Network Effect Week 2 focuses on community growth, with challenges that reward campers who bring new voices to our ecosystem. The "Tag Badge" encourages you to introduce friends to the Nexus community, with multiple pathways to success — because authentic growth happens in many ways.
