Welcoming Benjamin Richman as VP of Digital Assets

The team at Nexus is excited to announce Benjamin Richman as Vice President of Digital Assets.

Benjamin brings nearly two decades of experience across financial services, product development, and strategic leadership. His career reflects a blend of technical depth and market expertise in digital assets.

Previously, Benjamin was Managing Director of Digital Currency at Silvergate Bank, where he managed a large business development team overseeing strategy, growth, operations, and onboarding for more than 1,000 clients active in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, representing $16 billion in customer deposits. His leadership helped scale one of the most important banking institutions serving the digital asset industry.

Prior to Silvergate, Benjamin served as Director of Business Development at Blockstream, where he led go-to-market and partnership efforts for the Bitcoin scaling solution Liquid and the Cryptocurrency Data Feed in collaboration with Intercontinental Exchange (parent of the NYSE).

Most recently, Benjamin founded Openlev, a Brooklyn-based community nonprofit designed to cultivate purpose and belonging in people’s daily lives, bringing together curious minds for inspiring programming, intentional coworking, and intimate events.

Benjamin began his career as a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led technical product teams and managed large-scale IT programs for federal clients. He holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he discovered his passion for privacy by participating in one of the first blockchain courses offered at a U.S. business school.

At Nexus, Benjamin will lead digital asset strategy for the Nexus Layer 1 blockchain, driving ecosystem development and forging strategic partnerships.

His addition to the team reinforces Nexus’ commitment to building the cryptographic trust infrastructure required for the future of digital systems and ensures Nexus is uniquely positioned to deliver a next-generation Layer 1 built for the AI era.

Welcome to Nexus, Benjamin.

Q&A with Benjamin

Why did you join Nexus?

In a time of hype and noise, Nexus stood out with the integrity and long-term vision of the team. The opportunity to help build the foundational infrastructure for verification and AI-native economies, and to do so with a team that's deeply thoughtful about architecture, ethics, and scale, was too good to pass up.

What interested you about the team?

From my first conversations, I could tell this was a thoughtful, values-driven team building something meaningful. The combination of technical depth, kindness, and a grounded, human approach really stood out to me.

What are you looking forward to doing at Nexus?

I’m looking forward to helping grow the Nexus ecosystem, connecting with builders, institutions, and curious minds who want to help shape the next era of the internet. And if working alongside our engineers doesn’t make me smarter, at least it will keep me humble.

What are your hobbies?

Outside of work, I’m a long-time privacy advocate and a dedicated practitioner of yoga, meditation, and Muay Thai. I care deeply about building community and reimagining daily life through ritual, movement, and meaning—and I find grounding in nature, especially on long hikes and quiet trails.
