What is a Nexus Ambassador?
Nexus Ambassadors are highly engaged contributors who support the Nexus community. These individuals help drive the ecosystem forward through leadership, influence, and hands-on involvement.
In our last spotlight, we chatted with @LolaSt1400 about the web3 community in her part of the world. Nicholas (@ABams01) will answer a similar set of questions.
What initially sparked your interest in Web3, and how did your early experiences with DeFi influence your path in the space?
Back in late 2020/2021, before the major bull run, I was introduced to Web3 through a DeFi-focused class. That was my first real exposure to the space.
We learned the fundamentals: what DeFi is, how liquidity pools work, staking mechanics, and how people interact with tokens (yes, including buying meme coins and following trends). That class provided me with a solid foundation and helped me see that something deeper was happening in this space.
From there, my curiosity grew. I didn't want to just use these platforms — I wanted to understand how they worked. That's when I started expanding beyond DeFi into the broader world of blockchain technology. I got more serious about the technical side, and that's when my real journey began.

How did your approach to learning about blockchain evolve as you moved from exploring DeFi basics to studying broader blockchain concepts and coding?
I began studying blockchain concepts online through YouTube, Twitter Spaces, and various courses. I joined communities, participated in blockchain training programs, and made it a priority to continuously learn. This was also the phase when I started coding.
As I continued growing, I began joining hackathons, contributing to communities, and mentoring others whenever I could.
I have built several frontend sites and contributed with my team in a hackathon where we placed second and won a prize. I've also served as an ambassador, moderator, and builder, always looking for projects that align with impact and long-term value.
My coding journey doesn't stop here — I strive to improve by 1% every day and am always looking for available opportunities to learn more, whether through scholarships or mentorship programs.
Can you share some highlights from your journey of community involvement — such as participating in hackathons, mentoring, or serving as an ambassador and moderator?
My community experience has been incredibly rewarding. I've had the opportunity to grow through hands-on roles, serving as an ambassador for Wow Earn where I speak about the project to university students and promote it. I moderate the Novare community on WhatsApp and also manage their Instagram account. I've worked with other projects on Telegram involving memes, NFTs, and more.
These experiences taught me how to lead, support, and collaborate effectively in Web3 spaces. I've also mentored newcomers, helping them become familiar with tools, opportunities, and how to stay consistent in their journey.
Tell us about a project or hackathon you're especially proud of. What role did you play, what did your team achieve, and what did you learn from that experience?
One hackathon I'm especially proud of is when my team and I built Kyro AI Agent for the SafeAgenthon hosted on Dev-folio. Kyro AI is an agent designed to streamline user interactions in Web3 ecosystems. I worked alongside Chuck Patrick and another teammate. My role involved writing code, integrating the AI backend, and ensuring a seamless user experience.
We ended up winning second place with a prize of $1,500, which validated both our idea and execution. What made it special wasn't just the win, but how well we collaborated under pressure, successfully shipping a functional AI-powered tool within the deadline.
The biggest takeaway for me was seeing how quickly ideas can turn into impact with the right team synergy and clear communication. It taught me to trust lean execution, prioritize core functionality, and communicate effectively with team members.
What advice would you give to others looking to break into Web3, especially those interested in starting with no technical background or previous blockchain exposure?
My advice to others looking to break into Web3 is this: first, learn before you earn. Dedicate yourself to learning and training, and remain humble throughout the process. Believe in innovation and be an early adopter of new technologies.
Research is crucial — you don't need to understand everything at once. Start small and grow gradually. Join communities, ask questions, follow genuine builders on X (Twitter), and interact with fellow Web3 enthusiasts. The key is consistency and staying curious about the technology and its potential.
