After a burst of visual creativity in Level 1, Nexus Playground returns — this time with code, play, and community at the center.
Build the game you want to play
For the second round of our open creative contest series, we’re shifting from still images to interactivity. This time, we’re inviting you to build Nexus-themed games: playable, shareable, open-source experiences that embody the culture, values, and energy of Nexus. It’s an open invitation to merge creativity with code — and to create something the whole community can enjoy.
The challenge is simple: build a game that captures the spirit of Nexus. It could be a platformer, a strategy game, an RPG, a simulation, a Minecraft world — anything that’s fun, interactive, and invites others to explore. The format is open, but the goal is clear: build something others want to play.
To qualify, your game must be Nexus-branded, playable and shareable by the community, and include open-source code or assets (hosted on GitHub, itch.io, Roblox, or similar platforms). Most importantly, it should reflect Nexus — our values, our culture, or our aesthetic.
How to enter
Entering is straightforward. Post your game on X and tag @NexusLabs, and use the hashtag #NexusPlayground.
Include a name and a short description in your post. Then, drop your tweet link and open-source files in the #contest-submissions channel on Discord. If you’ve got early sketches, story ideas, or alternate builds, feel free to share those too.
We welcome a wide range of game formats: browser games built with HTML or JavaScript, Roblox or Minecraft builds, Unity or Godot creations, even chat-based or text adventures. The only rule is that it should be playable, open, and community-friendly.
The winner will receive a mysterious gift, a custom “Nexus Builder” role on Discord, a featured spotlight on the Nexus blog and X, and a permanent place in our upcoming Nexus Arcade—an evergreen Discord channel where the community can explore your work. Three runner-ups will also receive a gift, social recognition, and a spot in the Nexus Arcade.
Key dates
Submissions open on June 10 at 11:59 AM PT and close on June 22 at 11:59 PM PT. Winners will be announced on June 27.
Games will be judged based on creativity, playability, originality, code openness, and how well they reflect Nexus culture. Social engagement — likes and reposts — may be used to break ties.
This is Level 2 of an ongoing series. Each challenge is an invitation to build and experiment together as a community. The result? A growing gallery of projects that blur the line between play and possibility.
Let’s build a game we all want to play.
